During autumn nuts grow on the oak trees, little brown spheres that squirrelscovet and devour; leftovers are buried in the yard, to grow into saplings next year. Last fall, while sweeping oak leaves, I asked my mother why the tree did not have laughed and told me that oak trees certainly did have flowers; how else would the fruit grow? The next year I looked closely and saw the blossoms, light yellow in color,very small, hard to catch if one wasn't intently searching. Dad definitely wasn't; they givehim allergies.
In winter, the oaks still wear an outfit of green, but scanty; nowhere near as splendid as in summer. Various birds pause to rest on? its their branches. When I'm tired from daily homework, watching their hopping about on the branches makes me feel refreshed, too.
